Where do I begin?

I feel like I've been gone from this blog forever.

I've so much to share but just lack the time and energy to do so.

Sharing some pictures taken more than a year ago.

It used to hold no meaning for me.

Everything changed from the moment I believe.

That's the power of the cross, and of course, our dear Lord, Jesus Christ! :)

Some people celebrate Christmas for the fun of it, without knowing the significance of it.

I was one of the lost sheep but here I am, finally appreciating the true meaning of Christmas!

It's all about commemorating the significant historical birth of baby Jesus,

the Word made into flesh.

The atmosphere in church today was undeniably surreal.

I saw DG mates who were extremely excited to see us (I felt a tinge of guilt after skipping Sunday services and DG sessions the whole year round) without any sense of animosity.

Seriously, I'd love to spend more time with them if not for the eventful addition of Fondrey.

I saw one of my DG mate's mum, who was a non-believer, right beside us singing carol after carol.

I saw mothers holding their daughters and fathers holding their sons dancing to the beat of, the upbeat, Christmas songs.

I saw my hand slipping into the boyfriend's, pressing hard into it, only to whisper that I'll want to attend church regularly again, and let no excuse of fatigue and hectic schedule stop me from doing so.

I saw myself shedding tears of joy as I sang the song of 'Mary did you know?'.

Forget the turkeys, the blinding display of lights along the streets and crazy Christmas shopping.

Christmas is nothing but the wonderful reminder that we get to love one another because

our unfailing God first loves us.

Seems like I've been gone for more than a week?

I was actually back last Sunday but couldn't beat laziness to get down to blog or even clear emails.

I'm soooooo in love with TOKYO!!

Just couldn't bear to leave and return to reality.

My laptop was confiscated at the airport before my departure by my parents (no one said a word in defence for me. :( arrgh) and so I jetted off to Tokyo an angry girl.

Later I realised how wonderful it was to spend my days without Internet, just basking in the yummy Japanese food and shopping everyday!

Life couldn't be better than that!

Will be back with more photos with some deliberations written every night before I zonked off in Tokyo! :)

Looking forward to the weekends to catch up on some festive shopping!

I hope you are too!

Today,

I'm thankful for having God in my life, having Him lead the way for me and taking care of me in every way.

Taken during an evening drive

The beautiful sky always reminds me of how amazing God is.

Everything that is created by Him is good and awesome.

I'm thankful for my parents, who are my guardian angels in good and bad times. They're like Superman and Superwoman, always rushing to my aid wherever I am.

Thankful for my siblings who care for me in their own ways.

For my partners and Fondrey.

We rock! :)

Grateful for my wonderful students who show me how to love with a pure and innocent heart.

For the friends who are always watching out for me despite my lack of time for bonding sessions!

Brewerks outing every first Thursday of the month!

Thankful for scrap buddies who make cropping oh so fun!

For my amazing boyfriend who tells me that I look beautiful even when I'm in my winnie the pooh pyjamas with zero make up and spectacles.

Whose arms are always open for me to run to and hide in when I am beaten.

Amazingly, those same arms can also lift my worries and halve my sadness.

Who loves my little cousins and aunt as much as I do.

I can ramble on and on about this man!

Last but not least, I wanna thank everyone single one of you who drops by. This shows that you care.

Insane scrapping weekend!

Happy Tuesday!

I haven't been around for some time and it's got to do with an insane amount of creating! :)

For the first time in a long time, I stayed at home the whole weekend only to eat, sleep and scrap!

In case any conclusion about me turning mental is made, I’ve to tell you that I’m preparing lots of little scrappy goodies to sell at a flea in the coming weekend.

It’s going to be my first flea. Really excited about this whole thing as I’ve never ever been to a flea.

With not a single idea of what to expect or how to deal with any situations, I’m going to just go all out with my guts and God’s blessings.

Do share any tip about fleas if you have, I really appreciate it!

I’m considering making these little bookmarks to sell at the flea, a scary thought though considering that the boyfriend and I spent one whole full day making all 30 bookmarks for the kids in his class.

It’s kind of an end-of-year goodbye gift before they move up another level with a new teacher. When he told me how sweet his kids are, (read: wait for him every single morning at the school gate to welcome him and even hold his hands as they walk in school together, I wonder if he’s some major superstar in school! Lol) I immediately agreed to chip in my scrap supplies on the condition that we do the bookmarks together.

Note the slightly uneven stamping of the flowers below the tickets, that’s sweet proof that the boyfriend didn’t ~~totally~~ slack during the session. I insisted on stamping the words in the scallop circle as I know how important crisp stamping is for words! Hee me and my anal protective syndrome!

I’m not sure if some of you have the same insecurities issue as me. I’m always thinking that I can do the cutting more accurately, the stamping more evenly, the die-cutting more thriftily, the ribbon-tying more beautifully and so on.. I wonder if I’m the only one who feels this!

Anyway, I did this card for a consignment.

I’m always stumped when it comes to creating for males. I make such girly cards that I feel embarrassed knowing that the recipient is a man.

Still, I can’t help putting in that crumpled vintage looking seam-binding and tiny rose to complete the look.

You just can’t take shabby-chic out of me, period!

Oh how I love November..

Everything starts slowing down, embracing the festive seasons at year end..

Speaking of festive seasons, I've been hunting down lots of gorgeous dresses for Fondrey. My partner is trying to stop me from buying up almost all the dresses from our own shop. Well, certainly to no avail since I get to the pieces first hand! haha

Oh this is Christina, my quarrelsome partner. LOL

Before I go off to create more stuff, I just wanna share that I’ve put up the Art from the heart kit up on etsy.

You can see the contents in the description there. That’s not all from the crazed weekend scrapping.

I seem to be more of a cardmaker these days..

Not sure why, making cards give me a bigger sense of satisfaction than a layout.

I love to give cards to people I care about, letting them know how much I love and appreciate them.

I love those roses no matter what..

They're the sweetest gifts I receive for my birthday this year..

It's a hush affair this year as I step into my mid twenties..

How time flies..

I feel like I stop growing at 18 though. LOL

I still do the things I did when I was 18.

November is such a beautiful month, don't you think?

It's my second favourite month next to October.

Making a comeback!

I know I've been a really bad blogger.
Just wish I've the diligence to keep up with this little space of mine but you know life sometimes put you out of track.
Definitely will get back to blogging regularly since my students' exams are OVER!!! :)

Yes this is what I've been doing the past few days.
Scrapping up a storm, making little kits that will be going up on my etsy store in a couple of days and basically just resting, resting and resting my worn-out body.
You've no idea how thankful my body is for the wonderful rest.

Sorry for being away for the past couple of days..

The hectic period will not be over till the end of the month but I'm trying my very best to stay in touch here! :)

First of all, I sincerely want to thank those of you Sweeties who still dropped by here to give me the most wonderful, uplifting comments.

I'm grateful for these priceless reminders that I'm not forgotten. So thank you for that!

I can't wait to visit your blogs soon once I'm done with that hectic teaching job of mine. :)

Secondly, I just want to wish myself a Happy Birthday here!

I've no time to celebrate with my family and friends just so you know..

It's gotten really depressing for me to turn down their requests for lunch and dinner dates.

I know I shouldn't put work before them but I simply CANNOT leave my students on their own for the coming examinations.

If I were to do that, I'll feel guilty while having that birthday dinner or lunch..

Even if I have to sacrifice dinner to just help them with one more question for the day, I'll gladly do so.

I'm that passionate or rather stubborn (as termed by the unhappy boyfriend). laughs

See how HAGGARD I've become after working every single day of the week for the past few months?

Even my normally good skin starts protesting with a series of eczema! EEKS!

Don't even get me started on the eyebags and dark eye circles.. :(

Is that annual blues for real?

Sorry for not blogging as often as I would like to.

I've been holding back most of the time because I'm going through a rough time recently and I am not sure if I want to spoil your day if you're hopping for some inspiration or happy posts.

Well, I'm definitely going to be positive about this so just bear with me while I rant alright? :P

It's a lot to do with my relationship with my loved ones.

I have been working too hard I guess.

I always tell people who tell me to relax that I've a goal, to earn as much as I can so that my Dad can retire right away. If only I am capable enough.

Sadly, it doesn't take any brain to know it will backfire.

Working day and night, not having adequate sleep and even forgetting to take my meals regularly have become the worries of my parents.

I thought that they would be proud to have a daughter working hard to give them a better life but it turned out all wrong.

Then I stopped in my tracks, and realised that I've no one to turn to when I want to relax.

I've been too indulgent in my work that I forgot to make time to bond with friends, family and the boyfriend.

I've idolised working for money and not for God.

What an ugly confession but how real it seems to me right now,

just after a session of quiet time with God.

He is amazing, really.

Makes me see things as clear as day.

So I've decided to relax a little, on weekends.

Not to worry so much about the never-ending work, not to worry about my students' exams too much, not to worry about feeling guilty when I don't work for a day (criteria for a true blue workaholic by the way).

I'm going to make my days more meaningful by just spending the day with my boyfriend at the beach(we've never done that!).

By having a long dinner with my parents without having to rush off to do my work.

Waking up early to go for a run and a swim perhaps?

I've not done such healthy routines for a long, long time..

Tough times don't last, tough people do.

That's my birthday resolution this year.

Hello!

Apologies for logging in late if you've been keeping your eyes peeled here!

My past weekends including this (no less) have been burnt out by my students' exams.

And the bad news is, it's not gonna end anytime soon! :(

I can't tell you how tired I am but I really look like the most lethargic girl in the world that my mum felt sorry for me and showed it for the first time in her life.

I really gotta stop the old folks from worrying about me, my late nights, workaholic nature and all.

Still, I kept something to share this post.

Good Sunday morning!
It's been some time since I checked in here.
I'm terribly sorry I had to miss last week's Scrappy Sunday due to the overwhelming workload upon my schedule.
Fondrey's been a big part of my life now that all my weekday afternoons before teaching are devoted to purchasing, stock taking and invoicing etc..

Nonetheless I managed to squeeze in time to make some little cards over the week for two lovely friends' birthdays.

This is for Kay! I can't resist using the Crafty Secrets stamps and the new Prima roses!
The image of the girl is stamped and painted over with Gesso so that it doesn't compete for visual attention with the beautiful scroll with the birthday greetings.
I'm beginning to like using Kraft for my card base. Yummmm..

I coloured the flowers and leaves (on scroll) with Copic markers. I'm now itching to buy more of that addictive markers. :)

The scroll is also inked on the edges to make it stand out.

Oh, I was thinking that it'll be lovely to stamp her birthday on the inside of the card. I used brown ink for the date and purple vintage ink for the floral wreathe from the same set.

This is the other favourite card of mine.

Yups, belated Scrappy Sundays! :)

I've got a layout to share.

It's one of my favourite layouts with its soft vintage look, filled with colours I return to again and again.

Just to share some of my layering process..

Never throw those scraps of papers away, you should see the power of layering them under bigger scraps of papers.

What I always do is to place my photos and papers together to have a rough idea of how I want my layout to look before applying adhesive to it. I'm the play-safe kind of scrapper!

I still find this incomplete. After running through my usual embellishments, I realized that I'm missing some gorgeous kick-ass Prima flowers and butterflies!

So here comes the completed layout.

Anything more would overwhelm my lone photo.

The scoop
This moment is bliss.
Being a workaholic, this was one day last year when I can relax without thinking about work.
Of course, it isn't complete without this man I love dearly.

Scrappy Sunday #6

Another Sunday has come and gone.
This week is amazingly short. I guess it's due to the packed schedule I have.
Working hard to help my PSLE and O levels students as much as I can, working doubly hard for Fondrey.
They say it's easy to start a blogshop business? I beg to differ!
As my students' exams approach the corner, my scrapping time is cut down even more!
To be honest, I panicked a little when the weekend drew near, as I'm afraid I've no crafty stuff to share!
I do care about my commitment to host Scrappy Sundays to my friends who drop by so often! :)
So I searched my folder for many overdue projects that have yet to surface here.
And viola! I found this card I made for Nigel not long ago.

Websters die-cut paper, websters papers for cut outs, websters calendar papers, maya road blooms, alphas from Doodle bug, brad from Bo bunny and tea stained seam binding from my etsy store.

He's our Discipleship group leader, one of the most humble man I've seen in his walk with God.

This is his lovely muse, Grace, another godly woman.

We've Ah Vee do the shoots for us this time and he is amazing!!

Again, the week whizzed past without us knowing.

Isn't time the hardest thing to grab onto especially when you've a million tasks to complete?

Sad to say, I didn't have much scrapping done as Fondrey kept me on my toes almost every other hour. I do have way overdued projects to share!

The bf needed some Charts for his class to reward as well as punish. I came up with the names of the charts!

Here's Star Chart. For rewarding. :)

See how cheerful it looks! With the beautifully cut out sunflowers! :)

And this is the Naughty Chart! I think the gloomy raindrops and umbrellas fit the theme. :x

Both charts are adhered to the mounting board you buy from stationary stores.

I thought they're really sturdy but the boyfriend told me that the clouds and sunflowers were coming off after merely 2 weeks.

Surprisingly, those umbrellas on the Naughty chart were intact.

I guess kids paid more attention to the positive aspects of school. LOL

Oh those elongated fingers belong to the boyfriend.

I'm so excited about hanging out with my beloved students this holiday. We're going for movies and KTVs this coming one week break! It's such a blessing to be able to spend time with them, looking back at how CRAZY June has been!

Saying Hi to readers following my Scrappy Sundays!

It's the 4th Sunday and I'm so glad that I'm still keeping it up!

Details of the baby layout:

Love this stamped image from Crafty Secrets which goes so well with what I wanna say about my little cousin!

Did I tell you this pram is my favourite highlight of the layout.

Especially so with the pearls and tiny 'made with love' metal tag binded by my very own tea-stained seam binding!

This recent project is done for a project by Milky Way for little Vera, who has trisomy 18.

I am doing this at no cost and Milky Way's kind owner, Kay, is forking out for all the material costs!

Little Vera's family does not have problems coping with such a lifestyle but we just want to come together for an afternoon of fun to do something for her!

A way to show that we love her in a special way and to celebrate the miracle that Vera's one of the 10% of Trisomy 18 babies who live past 1 year. :)

I've to say it's amazing what scrapbooking can do.

I'd have never imagined we can have so many ladies with hearts of limitless capacities come together and create something in the name of love.

Many of those who turned up are young mothers who have their hands full (with toddlers and babies to take care of) and yet forked out the time and money to engage in this project!

I'm overwhelmed, to mention the least, and equally humbled to be able to be part of this event.

Special thanks to Kay for organizing this.

It's not easy for her to have to take care of 3 kids (without her helper for the time being) to book the venue, get snacks laid ready, take care of the funds and gather everyone up for this.

Thanks for being such a wonderful host and student too! :)

We still have a couple of kits of the above layout left, selling at S$100, of which the full proceeds go to Vera's imported bed from the States and milk powder. Sorry for not being on time!

This weekend is mad crazy!!

I'm gearing up for my students' major exams for the end of the year, doing lots of shoots for Challures and also for my own blogshop, Fondrey, not forgetting to mention I've a wonderful time holding a baby layout class for a worthy cause!

Ok so back to Scrappy Sunday!

This project is 3 months old.

A present I did for my 12 year old cousin, Ebell.

I love her to bits so I decided to make a little mini book to tell her how much we adore her!

It's called 'lovely day', how apt for a Scrappy Sunday post!

I made this mini book out of backing paper of paper pads, folded and corner-punched.

Good option if you run out of Maya Road chipboard albums!

Accordion-styled just by overlapping your 3-inched cardstock.

That's Ebell and me on the right tiny photo. :)

Now go make yourself or your loved ones a mini-album out of backing paper, cardstocks and sunny patterned papers!

Weeks ago, Christina, James and I gathered to discuss about opening a blogshop.
Especially since Christina and I are both SHOPAHOLICS, we decided to make it a worthy passion!

Scrappy Sunday #2

Good morning Scrappy Sunday readers!
I've been up the whole night playing mahjong with old friends and putting together the seam bindings which will be up for sale tonight! :)
My boyfriend thinks I love this card more than him. Lol
I think I'm just too obsessed with the lullaby lane papers and the lily white hand scrunched seams!
Soft and ethereal, absolutely fitting for the girlfriend I gave this card to..
Love you Hannah! You're one of the sweetest girls I've ever met!
It was raining cats and dogs yesterday, so the boyfriend and I drove up to some hawker center and made off with some hot soup take-away to enjoy at home.
Those little amount of time we spent together though short, is a total bliss for both of us.

Where has the long weekend gone?!
I have a million plans but only half accomplished.
Not too bad I guess.
The seam binding task is not yet completed.
Details will be up in a few days' time I promise!

So the weekend is spent catching up with old friends over karaoke and spending tons of time (by my standards) with the boyfriend!
He's still not very happy that I didn't spend ALL my time with him so I made him a little card to cheer him up! lol

Super versatile to use on cards!
This is my favourite card so far.. with my favourite lullaby lane papers from Websters and those lovely stamped images..
I hesitated for a long time before deciding to give this to the disgusted-with-me-for-liking -the-card-more-than-him boyfriend.
I'm glad I did.
The boyfriend is more important than any card in the world right?

Okay, so where was I?
Back to how my long weekend was spent.. yups.
Time had been well-spent I must say!
Scrapping took a backseat as I'm in the midst of setting up a blogshop selling clothes and accessories with my friends!
You can tell how excited I am about it by spilling the beans right here!

Before Scrapbooking took over my life, clothes and shoes and earrings and pots of colours were my everything!
I loved to dress up and play with make up, experiment with new looks and shop non stop!
It was on a looooong hiatus, can't remember how long though.. that I stopped splurging on those vanities.
Oh, the shopping didn't stop.
It merely changed direction. haha
to papers and ribbons and flowers, inks and everything pretty!

I'm back to befriending my trunks of clothes parked in my closet and trying the 100th pair of shoes in the shop.
No worries, the scrap hoarding will continue, especially when the CHA release is just too tempting for anyone to resist!

These are my favourites from Websters pages, they're such darlings to churn out beautiful designs every release.
I know of no other brand that blows me away like it does!
What're some of your favourite CHA release products?

Scrappy Sunday #1

Hi!

I'm pleased that I made it here in the wee hours of the morning.
It's our first Scrappy Sunday remember? :)

The simplest layout I've done so far!
Sometimes, it's more difficult to do simple layouts than complicated ones.
Just have this impulse to pile on more pretty embellishments.
And for the very first time, I stopped and decided this is enough.
I'm amazed at the self control I have, only wish it extends to my obsession with shopping!
Papers, flowers, swirls, tag, and even the muscial notes background stamp are from Prima!

I love Sundays.
Sunday is the ONLY day my boyfriend can hang out with me since I teach every other day.
Sunday is the day I can sing praises to our Mighty Father in heaven.
Sunday is a lovely day to relax and watch the world go by.
Having Scrappy Sundays is another reason to love Sundays!

So, leave the worries of the following week and pre-Monday blues aside and enjoy your Sunday!

This awful feeling

I need some adjustment time to get back to blogging.
Just so awful coming back to this dilapidated blog and seeing that it isn't active.

I've more than a hundred projects to post, more than a thousand ideas to share but I just lack the motivation to do it, especially after such a long haitus.
Do you get days like this?

Sigh... World cup really takes the life out of me.
I've been trying hard to revert back to the healthy biological clock whereby I get up in the morning and sleep before midnight.
Nothing is more difficult for a night owl like me. :(

So anyway, I'm thinking of having those 'Scrappy Sundays' kind of routine so that I blog regularly.
Just to get me back into scrapping (I've forsaken my scrap supplies for more than a month and they're calling out to me) and inhabiting this space before rust and dust reside.

Just want to know if this is a good idea, I'll really be glad if I get some constructive responses from the lovely people reading this! :)

On another note, I'm terribly sorry about forgetting to wish my blog a happy 2nd year blog-anniversary!

I just realized I've not updated for more than a month!
Sorry if you've been lurking around for updates, I'm just mad busy!
I've been surviving only 4 hours of sleep each day for the past month working at RWS for the world cup event after teaching in the day.

Fell sick periodically throughout the month but still managed to survive!
Praise the lord for strength! :)

The strength He gave me is amazing, really!

So, this is what happened in June...

Organized our 3rd Young Scientist's Day!
Without fail, June is the month for all my students to present their little demonstrations or experiments.
Beaming with pride as I type this away..
Guess what we're waiting for?
A little parachute display by Emillime!
Rachel performing her very first demonstration in front of a crowd.
She did stunningly well and came up 2nd!

Kudos to the amateurs for being so brave to present in front of a crowd of more than 30 parents and fellow tuition mates.
Amazing what these little gems can come up with, isn't it?

Some are polished gems after years of training.
Shannon's run for the 3rd year. No hiccups this time!
Can't believe I've taught her for 4 years!
Our mini tea-break filled with yummy homemade food.

Lim Jing's lovely mum giving her moral support at the peripheral.
We have really supportive parents who made tremendous effort to be present for their children. This meant so much to the kids and me!
Makes me reminisce of the times Daddy came for my prize-giving ceremonies, musical concerts and graduations. Some parents may think it doesn't matter but I tell you, it matters.
Matters the world to a child because parents are the centre of his or her life in childhood.
And WE remember.
We remember every single thing our parents do for us, and NOT do for us.
Sigh, I can foresee the impending doom of entering parenthood in a couple of years. LOL
Anyway back to the photos..

Welcome in June..

No, my photoshop didn't appear like how it disappeared.

Praise the lord for free software like PhotoScape!

It's not only pretty good for enhancing photos (like contrasting and sharpening, that's all the noobish me know!), it gives pretty collage photos too!

I had quite some fun playing with it for the past few nights!
Let's see what I've done!
Working on some baby projects that I'll be teaching for a cause.
I'm so excited about it really!
Will share the information on how to get on the class once everything's arranged!

You can't believe this baby is now 7!

My cute little cousin on his first day of school earlier this year!
I just heard some pride from him the other day, he's the monitor in class!
I can't stop laughing, this favourite boy of mine is off on a good start, isn't he?!

Poor resolution, my only complaint of my iphone.

All these are happening in June.
All in a month, all with me in them.

No, not what you think it is.
It just stands for the 3 layouts I did months ago for a single-parent project by some NUS students.
Must support my juniors in such a meaningful venture!

Just a couple of thoughts of what I think constitutes a happy family..
I've seen a fair share of complete family living with suspicion and distrust.
Trust me, it happens even in my family.

So the question of the day is, does it really matter whether you only have a Mum or a Dad?
Does it make you lesser than having both parents who quibble every other day?

A happy family.. is one with love and care for one another.
Without suspicion, without lies, without backstabbing, without overnight feuds.
Disagreements should only bring us closer together, a must to reach a point of understanding.
Never should it be the platform to break us apart, to hurt one another with words that last a lifetime or to sow discord within unspoken walls.

Sigh.. Many things in life are easier said than done..
That's when prayers are necessary..
With God, all things are possible!

Dreams in an album

It's such a delight to spot this today.

The exams are over and I've been enjoying every minute of the past few days with the boyfriend.

We're so blessed to share the same passion, occupation and dreams.

Now, we finally get to spend our free days together.

I've been wanting to share this album but the procrastinator in me shelved the idea for the longest time..

This album holds a great deal of significance to me.

It directs my life as all the dreams I want to fulfil right now are contained in it.

Isn't it one of the most therapeutic hobby around?

To not only SCRAP the pictures of the moment, but one's feelings and thoughts of the moment?

In fact, it's my most favourite hobby before scrapbooking comes into my life.

I poured all sorts of emotions into playing the beautiful instrument, especially when I'm down.

It seems to speak to me like a good, old friend.

Always listening, never doubting.

While it still serves me like a good, old friend, scrapping becomes more than that by giving me an outlet to build dreams and memories, keepsake and reaffirming my relationships with my loved ones with a thankful heart.

I think scrappers can relate to that very often, especially when it comes to journaling their thoughts in that little album or layout or even a card!

I'm soaking in every moment I have this week to rejuvenate, recharge, rededicate my time to my loved ones!

How blessed am I!

The Facts of Life

Life is what it is, it is FULL of ups and downs, bumps and bruises, and even sex. This challenge is not for the weak! hahaha just kidding... I challenge you to scrap the facts, whether it be the fact that you smoke, the fact that your single, the fact that you have sex, the fact that you have Mulitiple Sclerosis, there are alot of "facts" out there, they are not all pretty, they are not all clean, it's called LIFE. People usually scrap the wonderful relationships with their loved ones.
Fact is, every relationship out there, no matter how good, has its flaws.
My mum and I share this love-hate relationship since my teenage years till now.
We quarrel, we fight, we make up, we love, we hate..
It's conflicting to say I love her.
But I really do, despite the quarrels, fights and cold wars.
One thing for sure is that she loves me with all her heart.
Finally my card and layout are reunited!

It's the weekend again, my last weekend of printing, marking and revising with my students! Let me just remind myself that this exhausting period will pass.. Yes it will! i.just.can't.wait.for.next.week.to.come! This framed layout was made two months ago for my friend as a gift to his gf! Can't believe I can work with such strong colors. I'm always for muted colors, oh well. It turned out quite pretty, didn't it? My buddy is such a sweet boyfriend!! Just want to share some photos taken from a crop too. I find one lovely Sunday out of all the marking and teaching to crop with these wonderful ladies. Crops are cool because we get to learn tips from one another! It's so relaxing to just drop everything and shop, sorry scrap to my heart's content.

In between the hectic schedule of planning for my students' mock paper sessions and giving additional classes, I quite miraculously came up with the Mother's Day gift set class that they have been requesting since January!

Yup. The power of scrapbookers.
I 'converted' almost all my female students, even male ones into aspiring scrapbookers! LOL

Our school vacations are spent thronging the crowds at my LSS for hours.
Or they will fantasize about owning half of my you-can-imagine-how-much scrap supplies.

So here is the 'flyer' I came up for my mini Mother's Day gift set class.

I'm so looking forward to it as I've overwhelming responses for the classes!
Even the boys are coming up shyly to ask if they can take the class.
Of course you can, Silly heads!

I seldom brag about my bunch of 'kids'.
But beneath the non-chalent, as-if-I-care coat, they are one of the most filial kids I've seen!

Anyway I decided to share this good news with a blast!

I've finally experienced the magic of having a blog.
Thanks for giving me the joy of sharing my happiness and also the strength to carry on when I'm down.

I should be more responsible to my blog since I've gained so much from it.
So my note to self will be to post more regularly, maybe every 2 to 3 days?
So much to share but so little time to photograph my creations and post them up here.

Hmm I've a couple of projects to share but shall spread them out in the next few posts.
Let's start with this recent prima layout I did for a challenge at Made with love and won! :)

I seldom work with circles so I gave them a try..
It turned out really lovely..
This has gotta be one of my favourite layouts.
That's my cousin and I shopping at Suntec city.
We only get to meet ONCE a year during Chinese new year as she resides in Taiwan.
It's amazing how we hit off so well every year despite it being only a yearly affair.
So you can guess our favourite pastime from this layout.
It's SHOPPING!

Loving all the prima rose swirls, flowers and papers.
I've never been a big fan of their papers till the recent CHA release.
They just blow me and my savings away!

I wrote all the shops and restaurants we visited around the circles I've cut out.
I used the primitive way of drawing circles using the compass and cutting them out.
I distress and ink it with my favourite vintage photo ink from Rangers.
Guess how old my cousin is?
She's only 14!!
I'm depressingly a decade older..
See how old I look beside her?
Darn!

Weekend madness.

I've been really depressed recently.
Dying to get a break from teaching but I can't!
My students' exams are around the corner and they're not as prepared as I expected.
Why is life soooo stressful?!!

Sorry friends if I've been turning down your requests to hang out.
I feel really bad, promise I'll make up for the time lost right after the mid year exams in May!

Just see how I spend my weekends.
I start teaching at 9 in the morning in the east till 2 and rush to the west to continue fighting the battle till 7 in the evening.
It's torturous.
Saturdays USED to be my favourite day of the week.
Ever since taking in at least twice the number of students this year, my saturdays turn into a full working day. Arrgghh.

Then I like Sundays.
Sunday is the ONLY day of the week where I can spend the whole day with the equally tired boyfriend.
We will attend church and have lunch with our church friends and go shopping or sit at a cafe and chat non stop about how our week has been.
And guess what?

It's now destroyed by additional classes for students for their upcoming exams!
I've never been more depressed.

Sorry for the rant. I really need an outlet to release those pent up emotions!

I see people my age wasting their time partying and getting drunk.
I see people my age hanging around jobless so that their parents can support them.

I am left feeling bitter.
I wish I can buy some time from them.
I've so many dreams I want to fulfil, yet little time to even start working on them.
Do pray for me, for the strength to carry on, for the zeal to succeed in what I set my eyes on.

I don't normally use overlays in my layout but I was tempted by the MWL challenge so I decided to play along with overlays and a grid sketch.
My first try doing a grid with overlays so do excuse for any shortcomings!

I should do more challenges, it just helps me grow as a scrapper and I get more layouts done to justify the amount of damages I've been doing to my pocket!

Happy Easter ladies!
I'm so amused at the comments for my last post!
Sorry if I upset some of you for that couple of minutes! LOL
You ladies make my day! :)

April's fool aside, I really wish to share about what Easter Sunday is all about.
I'm not profoundly good at this, I'm after all a one-year-old Christian.
So as we sat down for dinner today, the boyfriend and I talked about Him.
It's one of our most talked-about dinner conversations on top of stuff about our students, scrapping and warhammer (his hobby).
I asked him which is more important, Good Friday or Easter Sunday.
He told me that it wouldn't make a difference if you're a non-believer but to non-believers, whom we previously used to be, Good Friday is real because it's a FACT that Jesus Christ died for us on the cross.
Easter Sunday probably didn't make sense then other than egg hunting and Easter shopping discounts!

And so, Easter Sunday is the crucial day, it's the day that separated the believers and the non-believers.
Believers recognized it as the day Jesus has risen and appeared in front of his disciples and others.

I was amazed by the presence of Him during dinner, we were so enlightened and I felt at peace being comforted by His love for us. I just love dinners like this, the boyfriend, me and God.

These are the bibles I bought for my little cousins.
Praise the lord that they've begun reading God's words and even asked me when they have problems understanding certain parts!
Most encouraging of all, they've been asking me to bring them to church and their mum agreed! :)
The magic of God's work is so awesome, a couple of my students' have been asking me to buy them bibles!
How great is His love for little children.
I'm speechless everytime He shows me how He loves them and encourages me to do the same.

Lastly, I pray for God to touch you, love you and bless you.

I'm quitting scrapbooking with a 'sand' tutorial

My last layout before I call it quits...

I love this photo of my aunt and her sons at the water theme park in Malacca.
I just have to use the lovely Seaside retreat papers from Websters pages for this!
Perfect for the photo!

The 'sand' is achieved by applying rangers sticklers in lemon on the area I want to cover (in a random manner) and pouring rangers embossing powder in white over it.
You do not need to heat it.
Just leave the mixture to dry for 10 to 15 minutes and you get this effect!
It even feels like sand!! Do give it a try!

As for why I am quitting scrapbooking,
I've reasons I feel uncomfortable sharing.
The rest of you scrappers, press on! :)

Scrapbooking is the last thing I'll quit in my life!

So I hoarded every single Webster paper that arrived a couple of weeks ago and played like a girl with her dolls.

They're just irresistable!
Just when I thought the last CHA release was the best of best, Brandin came up with these gorgeous collections!
I am especially in love with the lullaby line but I haven't got a chance to even touch them.

Idea journal

My friend almost gave me a heart attack when he told me he needed a cover for his idea journal in 2 days.
I'm an extremely slow scrapper and it takes me days to come up with something decent so I decided to go simple and of course I turn to Websters' papers for beautiful images for the cover!
It turned out just the way I think an idea journal cover should be.
I just couldn't take well to the idea of having hot air balloons around photos so they finally came to a good use for a cover without photos! - It's just me, I see beautiful layouts here and there with the gorgeous hot air balloons but I just hadn't warmed up to the idea of them floating around pages.
For now, this works for me!
By the way, I didn't make it into the G45 team but do root for the ladies who got into the top 20!
I'm elated to see Tomoko's name on the list!
You go girl! :)

And I always want to thank the wonderful friends who have kept me in your prayers and wishes..
It's with gratitude everytime I give thanks because it takes the heart and effort to leave love for me, letting me know you're there for me.
The moral support has been tremendously helpful so I'm really grateful always.

Sometimes you slow down to move faster and further..
That's the mantra I'm adopting right now.
I'm going to relax this coming one week break, reflect on what's important in my life right now and focusing on achieving goals I've set for myself.

Probably teaching will take a backseat,
Probably scrapping will take a backseat,

And probably spending time with the neglected boyfriend will prevail.

The boyfriend wanted me to make a bon voyage card for his warhammer friend.

No idea why he loves the hobby so much, I guess I can only understand through my obsession with scrapbooking!

I have this card ready for an abusive husband and neglective father, that's my aunt's husband.
May God give me the courage to give him this card when I'm ready to only hate his sins and NOT him.

Sin is to be hated, not to be excused or taken lightly..
I want to love him, just like how Jesus loves me.
To love him, I have to tell him that he is sinning because it's not loving to allow someone to be stuck in sin.

Have you ever hold back telling your best friend or loved ones so that you don't threaten the relationships you share with them?
If you think you're doing the right thing, think again.
Sometimes, you need to make a stand to point out what they are doing hurts or harms others.
That, is what I call a true friend.

Today, God's words speak to me more than any other day.
Just want to share this quote here.
I lost my cool earlier in the day with a student and became really impatient with him.
That's when God was not on my mind and in me.
Then I read the daily bible verse sent to my email and saw this:

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility
toward one another,
because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace
to the humble.

1 Peter 5:5

My heart is pierced with tremendous grief.
This is the best I can describe how I felt at that time.
I felt really guilty, not merely towards the boy but towards God.
He must be infuriated with me now, for being too proud to think that's the best way to treat the poor boy.

For we are all equal before his eyes, I need to seek his forgiveness.

More G45 projects done over the past week.
I love their new papers, especially the le romantique line!!

This is a standing frame, left over from teaching the cute little girls.
Inspired by the song 'Love, me' by Collin Raye.
My boyfriend and my all-time favourite song.
Such a treat!
I tried something making a little birdnest out of hemp twine.
All you have to do is to twist them around and attach with glue at the base.
The 'eggs' are little 3d pearls that broke off from a bracelet.. :(
Well, at the least they serve a new role in my life now!

Faith tag
This word keeps me going in bad and good times.
It'll be on my desk to remind me that I must have belief and trust in the lord.

The angels are perfect for this project!

You I adore card
I love the papers so much that I can't bear to kill them.
So I punch out circles of varying size to make a flower for this card.
Never throw your scraps away after a project!
Make a coordinating card or even save it somewhere for future use.
You never know when you need them!

I'm totally a noob at posting videos here but I figured I'll give it a try.

G45 Castle projects

G45 is having a DT call and I was keen to give it a try..
If you've been following me, you'll know how much I love their vintage papers.
So I did some projects over two nights and I'm just soo addicted to playing with their new papers!

I'm still wondering what photos to fill it with..
Maybe childhood photos of me?!!
These are the times I wish to have kids!!
But the thought of labor pain just scares me!
Arrgh!!

This is a simple layout I did of my sister and I at the beach when we were young.
It's so fun building sandcastles, I still remember the fun of digging sand with pails and decorating the castle with anything we find on the shore: leaves, barks, seashells and even litter that people left behind!

How I relish those days of being a carefree child!

No, Christmas is not yet over.

I know it's going to be March!
But Christmas is not really over yet for me as I continue to scavenge for bits of Christmas papers here and there to shelve for the next Christmas..
Some Christmas cards to share.

These two are my favourite cards!!
I can't bear to give them away so I gave one to myself and the other to the boyfriend. Eeks!

I must say I'm very proud of myself last Christmas to diligently churn out unique Christmas cards for all my loved ones.
I also wrapped the chocolates and cookies in cosy-looking brown bags tied with cute candy sticks.
I made more than a dozen cards for my students' families and close friends and relatives.
I want to do it again this coming Christmas with homemade cookies for a change!

Then I tried to organize my photo folders and realized I've TONS of projects yet to surface here and anywhere else..
So I came up with 3 stages of scrapping I went through.. lol

1st stage: Hoard and hoard but not scrap at all
Duration: 7 months
(I spent close to thousands but just had no courage to cut up the papers or use the pretty embellishments.. Thankfully I'm way past this stage!)

2nd stage: Hoard and hoard and scrap but didn't take photos of the projects
Duration: 3 months
(I was getting guilty of not using stuff I bought with my hard earned money so I decided to relieve that by scrapping a bit. I have no idea how to take nice photos of them, still struggling with taking nice photos now though.)

3rd stage: Hoard and hoard and scrap and take photos but didn't post
Duration: Ongoing for the past 4 months
(I'm still hoarding and scrapping and taking photos but I'm not posting up enough!! I've sooooo many projects to share but I just procrastinated and turned days into weeks and into months!)

NOTE TO SELF:
I really need to get my act together, cut down on hoarding (which is quite impossible given the lovely new CHA releases that take my breathe and life away each time they arrive at the stores), scrap more (to clear the overcrowding ordeal I'm facing), take BETTER photos (since I've a DSLR now) and share them here diligently!

The lovely comments I'm receiving make me feel so loved.. Thanks a million for encouraging me to post more often!! Have a great weekend dear friends!

Dirty Scraps Challenge #3 & some boring life updates

Good Thursday friends!!

I've been really busy with the CNY (Chinese New Year) preparations thus the MIA for a more than a week!
Valentine's day is around the corner (coincidentally on the same day as the first day of CNY) but I didn't get even a single Vday project done!!
I can't believe it but time just kept slipping past me and I've no means to even get proper sleep and rest recently.

So what's keeping me busy?

A swimwear photoshoot last weekend for a Hongkong magazine so I went through the dreadful motions of getting my whole body waxed, doing my nails and toenails, and yes, getting a haircut!!
I've not entered a hair salon for more than half a year! LOL
This shows you how lazy I am!

Preparing for my very first scrap class for little girls below 5, a session for one of the little princesses' birthday!
I have no idea that planning takes up so much time and effort!
I'm still trying to figure out what 5 year olds can do and can't do, just so I won't over or under-estimate their abilities to scrap up a storm!
Any kind mummy with 5 year olds care to share more on that?

I'm also preparing my students for the upcoming Term 1 tests which are definitely going to suck years out of my already-shortened life!
Arrgh, that's the real pain!

And the procrastinator streak in me continues as I have not yet finished organizing my room.
I just don't have the heart to throw my precious books, scrap supplies I don't use often, clothes I don't wear anymore, old gadgets like my first cellphone, and other lovelies with sentimental value..
They mean SO much to me, the thought of housing them in the dumps just doesn't sit well with me.
Can you feel the agony in me?!
Lastly, I've been thinking of starting something that I've been contemplating for months..
I've no confidence if I can handle it but I know my life will be full of regrets if I don't even get it started..
That requires a large investment and I need lots of planning and energy to do it..
So if you've a teeny weeny time when doing your quiet time, will you please pray for me?
I'll be really grateful for that! :)

Challenge #3 for Dirty Scrap is up!!
Broken, that's the key word for this week...
we all have broken relationships, whether it be an ex boyfriend, an ex husband/wife, a broken relationship with a friend, or even God.
So this week's challenge is to scrap a broken relationship. Heck you could have broken off your relationship with cigaret
tes, or Dr. Pepper! LOL
Make the challenge work for YOU, after all its' YOUR book and YOUR page, just get down and deep or have fun and make it light~

This is my take on it!

My hidden journaling:
Why should we be depressed over the people of this world who will sadly but surly fail us?
Why should we be depressed over not having what we really want but do not need?
Sometimes, we're just too comfortable with the feeling of being depressed simply because we dare not face the road ahead bravely.
The day finally came when I decided to get over the ruminating, the depression and the uncomfortable comfort of living my life this way.
Days of turning in and waking up with suicidal thoughts have now converted into days of turning in and waking up with thankfulness and the assurance that God & his unfailing love will make things right.

Now go get DIRTY!

One of the Valentine's gifts I'm planning to give to my boyfriend.
Sometimes we need to remind each other to cherish this love that is not easy to come by, don't we?

This is my favourite card of all!
I embossed and cut the bonnet for the cute mannequin and decorated it with beautiful pearls and Webster's pink trims.
I also used my favourite flower lace trim from Webster's.
It's really really gorgeous I tell you!

I apologize for the long post but I'm just too excited to show you what I've done with the beautiful papers!

Of course, I shouldn't sign off without gratitude..

I'm going to be the February Guest Designer for Websters pages!!!

When I first received the email from Terri, I thought I was dreaming.
I fell in love with Websters pages from the very first moment, heck I don't even have the 'love at first sight' drama with my boyfriend. LOL
I actually hated him way back but let's leave it for another day.

For my love of doing little giveaways,
I'm thinking of having a little fun game to celebrate this wonderful news!

The game goes like this...

Dirty Scraps Challenge #2

Hi sweet ladies,

thanks so much for leaving sweet notes of love, keep them coming!
I really appreciate them greatly!!

Yesterday was the reveal of Dirty Scraps challenge #2 and this is my very first layout for DIrty Scraps!

It's titled 'Broken'.
The only journaling on this layout is placed across the title, 'as BROKEN as you want it to be'.

This serves as a reminder to me about how affected we are by others depends on how much you want others to affect you.

I've been through countless broken relationships, many of which are on the road of no return.
Sure I mourned about them day and night, even after years..
It's alright to be broken, really!
But it's not alright to remain broken because things will only become better when you reach the bottom of the pit, won't it?
So, if you're feeling broken right now, over the loss of a loved one, a painful break-up or a sudden desertion by close friends, let your hair loose and scream or cry.
Then, leave those baggages behind and move on to bigger, better things!
