20 09 - 20 10

Hi dearies,

I wanted my first post of the year to be a good one, thus I spent almost 3 days coming up with this really long post!

Sorry for missing in action but life has really been crazy with the recruitment of new students.
God has been so good to me really, the number of students I'm teaching this year is doubled!
With the slow economy and retrenchment going around, I'm so very thankful for such an overwhelming response!
Then again, I am so afraid of having less time for the already neglected boyfriend and scrapping!!
Sigh such is life!

2009 has been one of the most hectic yet fulfilling year for me.
When I sat down to make a list of the highlights of the past year, most memories left me feeling all bittersweet inside.
I wonder if you've experienced the same feeling.

Here comes the list of the highlights of 2009, maybe I'll post my favourite projects of 2009 later, just like what Stacy has done! Have I told you before that I'm a great fan of her work?!

In 2009,

I graduated from NUS

I graced many interesting events as a Miss Earth ambassador.

I must say it's an eye-opener from cleaning up mangroves to holding cocktail glasses at chi-chi private events.

at the Barefoot Walkathon to raise funds for the needy in developing countries

at the launch of Segway, an environmentally-friendly form of transport for commuters

of course, meeting Jackie Chan was a bonus! :)

hosting for a roadshow in Chinatown point to create awareness for the green movement,

with my co-host!

We passed on our titles to the 2009 Miss Earth winners
waiting for the winners to be announced!

I won Miss Photogenic for Miss International.

Seems like I'm a sucker for pageants. lol

It's a fun experience but I'll most probably stop at this.

I got my very first car!
Okay I look totally unglam without make up here!

anyway I love my seat belt cover!
It's a birthday gift from my jc friends!

I held my dream poolside birthday at Sentosa, only strictly inviting my those who are close to my heart..

I received this
and this
with a 18-105mm lens
from my loving boyfriend!
I can't tell you how excited I am over the camera!!

You can see how lovely the photo of my cards in the previous post turned out. Hee
All thanks to a good camera and sound advice from some of you!
Cheers to the start of my photography journey! :)

I have grown even closer to my students.
We are now movie buddies, board game rivals, tennis and bowling opponents, supper night owls and many more!

I spent the most fun-filled days at Malacca, Malaysia with my cousins and aunts..

I submitted my layouts to a magazine call the first time and was published!

By the way, that happened in November..
I know, I know.. It's way overdue!

Here is the link for the step-by-step instructions for these two layouts.

Best of all, 2009 is special because it is the year God has chosen me.

Knowing him has been so rewarding, because he is always there to catch me when I fall.

Knowing him has been so magical, because he opens up my eyes to the things unseen.

Knowing him has been so wonderful, because he changes me into someone better than I think I can be.

I have never been more blessed for every single thing my Father has given me.

Have you been blessed yet?

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish,
and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:27-28

24 :)

I turned 24 on 22nd October. It's a love-hate relationship.

The love:

1) I've finally gotten my OWN car! It's a Huge relief, becuase it's not for luxury's sake. Going to and fro from Pasir Ris to Bukit Batok almost 4 times a week is taking its toll on me after 5 years of travelling 3 hours each day. Having fainting spells from motion sickness simply devastates the already uncomfortable commuting of having to squeeze in crowded trains and having to catch the last train home after a long day of work. Trust me when I say it's more of a relief than simply showing off.

I know I may sound pious but I've been humbled by Jesus so much that showing off is the last thing on my mind when I do everything nowadays. I think I've been so blessed to have God in my life so that I stay grounded and faithful in the walk with him. It's really really important!

2) I've finally changed my phone of 7 years! I know my lovely Samsung phone has been nothing short of wonderful the past 7 years. Really, how on earth can you find a phone that lasts for 7 years and counting!?!! It's still working but it has starting showing signs of aging, just like its owner! LOL Since my mobile contract has ended, I can finally get my hands on the iphone! I'm still trying to get used to it but it's been qutie a pleasure so far. :)

3) Most importantly, I have grown a lot since my turbulent teenage years. I get that a lot from people around me and even I feel it myself. All I can say is THANKS for all your encouragement and I'll give all glory to my Father in Heaven, who has been paving the way for me to grow into who I am right now.
He gave me strength when I need it the most and as a result I become stronger, assurance so that I do not worry, peace so that I can be clear-minded, forgiveness so that I can repent, joy so that I can spread his love, love so that I can dispel hatred. I am still learning, with God's love, nothing is impossible!

So what's there not to love about being 24?

1) I need to be more responsible. Towards my work and my family and friends. I've been one inconsiderate selfish girl and it's easy to forgive me when I was younger. The grace period is up, I really need to be more accountable.

2) Age is catching up. My body isn't what it used to be. I dunno if you feel that in your mid-twenties but I feel lethargic easily. I need 12 hours of sleep everyday or else I'll feel light-headed and tired the whole day. I can no longer keep up with my tuition kids when we play basketball or tennis. I just can't breathe after half an hour.. Arrgh gotta start working on my stamina!

3) I'm STILL a procrastinator. I procrastinate packing up the room (not packed since last year!), I procrastinate saving up for my business (this is the worst because I can't stop hoarding papers), I procrastinate clearing away the clothes and shoes that I no longer wear (big headache as I've problems storing new arrivals!), I procrastinate even bathing every night (I'll wait till the last hour before I sleep before I sleepily drag myself to the bathroom to have a quick shower and go to bed with half-dried hair). Everyone who knows me knows this really BAD habit of mine!!

Gosh, enough shortcomings about myself for today! I've not been scrapping for a looooong time but I've photos of my birthday party to share!! :) Photobucket

Take care everyone and I'll get back to scrapping soon!

Sooo sorry for not posting the winner yet, will be back real soon! :)

Goodbye Angie & Justin!

I've been feeling really sad for the past week. I know I shouldn't be because it's good news that both my friends are leaving for further studies, dreams worthy of pursuit. I just can't help feeling sad that I'll not be able to see them for years! But really, I wish them all the best and I pray for God to watch over them in both their studies and safety. I did an album for Angie, with the help of Lucky(Izzy loves being called that!) and this is what we came up with! She is going to study fashion design, that lucky girl! So, the G45 fashionista collection is apt for the album! Photobucket Photobucket I know we look crazy here. We're just a little tipsy in my defence! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket The blank spaces are for everyone to fill up their love for Angie! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Our gang at the send-off! Photobucket I'll miss this girl sooo much!! Come back soon at least for the mahjong sessions k! LOL Photobucket Photobucket Details: Photobucket Photobucket And not forgetting this layout for Justin who is going to do his Phd in Theoretical physics at Harvard. Gosh, this is a mouthful but Justin is really really amazing. Amazingly humble for his background. He was with A-star, had such good grades that Harvard accepted his entry and yet managed to stay rooted and never once flaunt what he's good at. This is the power of Christ in him and in us. I'll keep praying for him for his biggest worry is not knowing if what he is doing is pleasing to God. I'm really in awe of the things that come out of his mouth albeit the one or two conversations we had in church. My 2nd time in the airport this week Photobucket Something funny came out of this though. The send-off was unsuccessful! Really funny, I'm gonna do a layout on it soon! We met Justin when he was checking in his baggage and luckily we took some time to take some shots together before he went for dinner with his parents. We went too even though we had only half an hour before departure. Happily, we settled at Popeye's and had really good chicken and potato mash and we missed the departure! According to his parents, Justin was frantically searching for us while calling Teck Tee (I must identify the guilty one in blue). Teck Tee was too busy chewing his chicken I guess and by the time we caught him, he was already at the customs. The tin of biscuits I bought for him and this layout were wasted because I didn't have the chance to pass them to him! Sigh, it's a funnily heartbreaking story. The saving grace at the end of the day happened when Justin managed to call us before the plane took off and made us LESS guilty about missing his departure. LOL I'll end this long post with this pouty picture of me and Yappy! Photobucket Talking about pouts, I just finished a layout relating to it! Will be back real soon to blog about it!! :) Cheers and be blessed!
